No Image Available Jeremiah "Jerry" Austin (b. December 11, 1848), of Fulton County, IL, enlisted as a Private in Company D on August 13, 1862. He was discharged due to disability in January 1864. He died on October 7, 1926 at the age of 78. He is buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward, Okalahoma.

No Image Available William Baker (spelled Barker on the official roster), of Troy Grove, IL, enlisted as a Corporal in Company D on December 1, 1861. He was discharged due to disability on July 7, 1862. He is buried at Troy Grove Cemetery in Troy Grove, Illinois.
 

 

Pvt. Isaac Bard, Company D
Isaac Bard, of Walnut, IL, enlisted as a Private in Company D on December 1, 1861. He died while in the service at Clear Creek, Mississippi on July 29, 1862. He is buried in section B, grave 3469 at Corinth National Cemetery in Corinth, Mississippi.

He reenlisted as a veteran on December 31, 1863. He was mustered out with his company on July 11, 1865. He is buried at Gilson Cemetery in Gilson, Illinois.

Henry B. Davis, of Franklin County, Alabama, enlisted as a Private in Company D on September 11, 1862. He reenlisted as a veteran on December 31, 1863. He died of wounds on August 15, 1864. He is buried in section G, grave 7834 at Marietta National Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia.

No Image Available Marcus Desch (listed as Murcus Darche on the official roster) (b. November 20, 1840 in Pennsylvania), of Troy Grove, IL, enlisted as a Private in Company F on December 3, 1861. He transferred to Company D shortly thereafter. He was mustered out on January 2, 1865. He died on September 28, 1907 at the age of 67. He is buried in lot 119, section 1, Div D, grave 10 at Greenwood Cemetery in York, Nebraska.
 

 

Pvt. Michael Dunigan, Company D
No Image Available Michael Dunigan (spelled Donegan on the official roster) (b. May 1, 1836 in Ireland), of Hermon, IL, enlisted as a Private in Company D on August 13, 1862. He was mustered out on May 31, 1865. He died on May 23, 1926 at the age of 90. He is buried in lot 329, section Old Survey, grave 12 at Seward Cemetery in Seward, Nebraska.
 

 

Cpl. Patrick B. Epperson, Company D
Patrick B. Epperson, of Hermon, IL, enlisted as a Private in Company D on November 1, 1861. At some point he was promoted Corporal in the same company. He reenlisted as a veteran on December 31, 1863. He died of wounds at Marietta, Georgia on July 1, 1864. He is buried in section G, grave 7841 at Marietta National Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia.

Wag. Phillip George, Company D
No Image Available Phillip George, of Arlington (later Princeton), IL, enlisted as a Private in Company B on November 1, 1861. He was transferred to Company D and made its Wagoner. He was in arrest at Decatur, Alabama, for desertion when he was mustered out of the service. He died on February 10, 1881. He is buried at Kewanee Cemetery in Kewanee, Illinois.
 

 

Pvt. Wilson L. Gosnell, Company D
No Image Available Wilson L. [or S.] Gosnell, of Tennessee, IL, enlisted as a Private in Company D on January 17, 1862. He reenlisted as a veteran on December 31, 1863. He died at Rome Georgia, August 26 [grave says 27], 1864. He is buried in section C, grave 1317 at Marietta National Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia.

No Image Available John Grothcopp, of Chicago, IL, enlisted as a Private in Company D on February 29, 1864. He was killed near Kennesaw Mountain, Georgia on June 27, 1864. He is buried in section A, grave 863 at Marietta National Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia.

He was promoted First Lieutenant on June 2, 1865. He was mustered out with his company on July 11, 1865. He died on March 27, 1910. He is buried at Troy Grove Cemetery in Troy Grove, Illinois.
 

 

Pvt. John H. Miller, Company D
No Image Available John H. Miller (b. 1829), of Chicago, IL, enlisted as a Private in Company D on February 27, 1864. He was mustered out with his company on July 11, 1865. He died on September 12, 1895 at the age of 66. He is buried at Pleasanton Cemetery in Pleasanton, Kansas.

No Image Available Anson Little Musson (b. December 22, 1845 in McDonough County, IL) enlisted as a Private in Company D on February 18, 1864. He was mustered out with his company on July 11, 1865. He died of a jaw infection in 1931 at the age of 86. He is buried at Rochester Cemetery in Topeka, Kansas.
 

 

Pvt. John Reeves, Company D
No Image Available John Reeves, of Dixon, IL, enlisted as a Private in Company D on February 23, 1864. He died while in the service at Washington, DC on June 2, 1865. He is buried in grave 10978 at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.

Note: he is mistakenly listed as serving in the 64th Indiana Infantry; there was no such unit.

 

 

Pvt. Washington Small, Company D
No Image Available Washington Small, of Waltham, IL, enlisted as a Private in Company D on February 1, 1864. At some point he was a prisoner of war. He was mustered out on May 30, 1865. He died on May 21, 1914. He is buried at Waltham Cemetery in Waltham, Illinois.

No Image Available John Unger (b. 1843?), of Quincy, IL, enlisted as a Private in Company D on January 17, 1862. He reenlisted as a veteran on December 31, 1863. He was mustered out on January 17, 1865. He died in 1929. He is buried at Greenwood Memorial Terrace in Spokane, Washington.
 

 

Pvt. Sullivan Winterscheid, Company D
Sullivan Winterscheid (spelled Wintersbitt or Wintershitt on the official roster), of Hennepin, IL, enlisted as a Private in Company D on February 8, 1864. He died of wounds at Marietta, Georgia on September 12, 1864 [official records indicate sometime in August]. He is buried in section G, grave 8196 at Marietta National Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia.
